Get what good you can out of it, make plans to do better next time, and put it behind you.
Put it in perspective.
The downside is that sometimes we:
A) Did some really shitty things
B) Will NOT admit this to ourselves consciously
C) Know it subconsciously
D) Beat ourselves up about it even more after that, as we have admitted to being a piece of shite, and … don't know what to do.
My own personal tactic for the last point is taken from the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step program: “make apologies and amends”
OTOH, if it’s a shitty situation *someone else* has put me in, i can decide on my own reaction. I own myself, i am not a slave to the person trying to manipulate my emotional state.
That might be immediate and overwhelming response, a slow work where i wish to do them harm over time, or simply ignoring them. usually the latter.
It’s designed to take regret out of life, basically.
Top level email marketing metrics are. Open rate, click through rate (CTR) bounce rate and unsubscribes. These will give you a general indication of how well your campaigns are performing.
You may also want to combine these with other metrics like conversion rate on your website. Time spent on site and site bounce rates.
Keep in mind that with Apples recent privacy update, open rate may become less accurate and as email marketers, we need to shift our focus from opens to clicks.
